Moraiyo khichadi is very popular and quick faraal recipe which everyone can enjoy while fasting.
Ingredients :
- 2 tbsp oil or ghee
- 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
- 4-5 curry leaves
- 2 tbsp peanuts
- 2 green chili finely chopped
- 1 cup potatoes chopped
- 1/2 cup moraiyo
- 2 cup water
- salt to taste
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder (optional)
Steps:
- Rinse the moraiyo very well and keep it aside.
- On medium heat, in deep sauce pan, take oil or ghee. then add cumin seeds, curry leaves, green chili and peanuts. let it cook for 1 minute.
- Add potatoes and let it cook on lower heat for few minutes with cover lid. Cook potatoes until its tender or 50% done because moraiyo tends to cook very fast.
- Now add moraiyo, salt , water and turmeric powder, close the lid and cook until moraiyo is done on lower heat. Stir every 2 mins so it will not stick to bottom.
- Serve hot with curd or faraal kadhi.
Notes
Some people don't add turmeric powder, if so you can omit it.
For my all Faraal recipe, I combine oil and ghee(clarified butter). Ghee will enrich the taste.
